There will not be a new Saves the Day for Wednesday, September 4th. I apologize.

As of Wednesday, September 11 Saves the Day will be posted monthly on my new general webcomic blog, Comic Träume. This blog will feature new strips from various titles and experiments, collecting all of my comic works in one convenient location. So, be sure to visit Comic Träume for new comics every Wednesday.

#14 - This Is War - Part 4 - Conclusion

So, it's Wednesday. The "This Is War" storyline is at a seemingly grisly end. I imagine that after you read this you'll have many questions. Is this really the end? Would he actually do this?

I guess you'll have to check back next week for updates. Until then, revisit the old strips and be sure to join the comic mailing list for all the updates for Saves the Day, Tenebrous Tales, and any new comics which may or may not be coming up. All you need to do to join is either fill out the "Contact Me" form at the bottom of this page or email with the subject line "Subscribe" to jonathansample.comics[at]gmail.com.

#13 - This Is War - Part 3

The "War" continues today, Wednesday, with a brand new installment of Saves the Day!

The story so far:

After initiating conflict with some poorly managed words, The Office Clerk drove the forces of the "Villainous Academy of Villainy" to action. They found special ways to get at the heroic employees of Saves the Day. Now the heroes must regroup to lick their wounds and prepare for battle.

Also, something from way back makes its official debut in this storyline. You'll see The Office Clerk dressed in different attire this time around, his "Hero Armor." This design comes from my original Office Clerk sketches from back in 2007 when I first created the character. I was temping in an office, drawing characters and such between data entry assignments, when suddenly I drew this strange hero who I decided would obsess over the most absurd aspects of clerical work. In a way, drawing and creating such characters helped to save my sanity during that time in a less than great job.

Nothing like some historical Easter Eggs to enhance the comic reading experience, huh?

Anyway, enough of the winking and nodding to the "Secrets and surprises." Please enjoy the strip, read back a few in order to catch up on the story, and keep up on the continuation of the strip's first true saga next week!

#12 - This Is War - Part 2

It's Wednesday again, and again, you have a new Saves the Day!

This strip is the second in an ongoing storyline about the rivalry between the smalltown heroes of a familiar heroic day labor office and the newly arrived villains. Will the forces of Saves the Day be able to weather the slights perpetrated by the miscreants from the Villainous Academy of Villainy? Find out by reading the above and returning every Wednesday for more new comics!

I hope that you enjoy this week's strip.

Feel free to check out my other comic, a horror webcomic titled "Tenebrous Tales." It's dark, creepy, and an homage to the classic horror strips from EC Comics.

#11 - This Is War - Part 1

It's Wednesday again (or close enough to it), so here's another edition of Saves the Day.

The first thing some of you will notice is that it's lacking color. That's because I've decided to make some more changes to the format. My time has become more and more limited and will be even more so in the Fall. I apologize that certain announced changes did not occur. Hopefully this won't ruin the reading experience for you. As you can see, though, the storyline continues. There will only be once-in-a-while color strips for special events, but the average comic will be in black and white and only released once a week. That's unfortunately all I'm truly capable of at this time.

This entire webcomic venture is an experiment for me. I'm creating it to build a body of work, to entertain folks, to explore my abilities with storytelling and illustration, and to see just how much time I can open up for comic creativity. Please bear with me and feel free to offer feedback to help me improve.

Enjoy this week's strip!

#10.5 - What the Villains Noticed

Opposite of Monday's #9.5 teaser is this strip, titled "What the Villains Noticed." It turns out that The Office Clerk wasn't the only one who happened to glance across the street.

What will come of this? Check back for next week's Strip #11 to find out. Remember, it will be the first comic of the month, so you can be sure that it will be in glorious "Webcomic Ultra"* color!

*Webcomic Ultra - a new type of coloring for supremely amateur webcomic creators of the world!

Schedule Format Update - No Change

Due to new personal schedule restrictions Saves the Day will remain at one day a week. So, every Wednesday you'll still be able to read a new Saves the Day. Also, there will still be a new ongoing storyline with only the occasional one-off gag strip.

Thank you for understanding and for reading Saves the Day.

#10 - The Big Meeting

It's yet another New Comic Wednesday and here is another Saves the Day for you, dear readers.

If you haven't yet read the teaser for today's strip, #9.5 - What The Office Clerk Saw, then you should check it out. This is the lead-in strip for the comic's first ongoing storyline. The Office Clerk has assembled the office's stable of heroes, giving you the reader the chance to get to know some new faces.

After today you'll be able to read Saves the Day three times a week on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Enjoy the strip and share with your friends. Also, check out my other webcomic which posts today, Tenebrous Tales #2.

#9.5 - What The Office Clerk Saw

A little teaser to whet your appetites before Wednesday's strip. After Wednesday, beginning Sunday, the comic will be launched into its new format with an ongoing storyline. This is a first for the strip, a first for me as a comic creator, and a chance for you folks to come back three times a week and catch up on the adventures and exploits of your favorite goofy wanna-be heroes.

Enjoy the strip, share it with friends, and come back Wednesday for this week's main strip.

Also, Saves the Day is now on Facebook. Like the page at https://www.facebook.com/savesthedaycomic

New Look and New Comic

As those of you who have visited the blog in the past can see, I've changed a few things around and opened up some room for the comic images. This is all thanks to reader John Wesorick for his suggestions, advice, council, and support.

For a while now I've neglected customizing the blog beyond the basics due to spending all my time on the writing and drawing. If this has led to any difficulty in reading and enjoying the strips then I apologize.

Also, here's a link to Saves the Day's new sister comic Tenebrous Tales, which began publication today and will be updated weekly on Wednesdays.
